Is garlic bread safe?
No — garlic bread contains garlic, which is toxic to dogs. Even small amounts of garlic cause damage to red blood cells. Avoid completely.
My dog stole a piece of toast — is that OK?
Plain toast is not dangerous. The only risks are if the bread contained toxic ingredients (xylitol, raisins, garlic). Check the bread package.
What about sourdough bread?
Plain sourdough in tiny amounts is OK — the fermentation makes it slightly easier to digest. Never give sourdough dough, which still contains active yeast.
