Dairy for French Bulldogs

Cheese can be given to French Bulldogs in small amounts as a treat or training reward. Choose low-fat, low-salt options — mozzarella, cottage cheese or plain cheddar in tiny amounts are best. Avoid high-fat, aged or strongly seasoned cheeses.

Cow's milk is not toxic to French Bulldogs in very small amounts, but many adult dogs are lactose intolerant and will experience digestive upset. A few teaspoons occasionally is usually fine, but it is not a recommended regular drink. Water is always the best choice.

Plain ricotta can be given to French Bulldogs in very small amounts as an occasional treat. Ricotta has a relatively lower lactose content compared to many dairy products, but it is still high in fat. Introduce a tiny amount first and watch for digestive upset. Only plain, unflavoured, unsweetened ricotta is acceptable.
