Possible common causes

When to monitor at home

- There are no lesions, redness, or visible hair loss
- It appears in specific seasonal periods
When to contact the vet
- Scratching is intense and continuous, disrupting sleep and behaviour
- Skin lesions, scabs, redness, or hair loss have appeared
- The dog obsessively licks its paws
- The itching has lasted more than a week without improvement
- Swelling, hives, or widespread redness appears (possible allergic reaction)
When it may be an emergency
- Sudden swelling of the muzzle, lips, or neck
- Breathing difficulty associated with sudden itching
- Generalised hives that appeared rapidly
